As part of its on-going development programme, NMR has introduced phase 2 of its pocket-sized dairy software system, Pocket Cow Manager. Users of the highly successful program, that was introduced last September, will receive the upgrade free of charge this month.
“The most significant development is more options for locating animal details - now possible by number, name or eartag,” says NMR's system developer Seamus Gilheaney. “We have also added more detail to the action list for each animal so future events show up. Both these additions improve the system's 'instant' management abilities.
“ For example, if a herdsman sees a cow bulling, he can key in a cow's name and immediately access her calving date, service details and return to heat or service dates. This gives more information and provides a complete picture.”
In addition, date of birth is now added to all animal details held on the Pocket Cow Manager and the program can accommodate more events entered on site.
“The success of Pocket Cow Manager in only nine months warrants significant investment in the system and there will be more developments in the future,” adds Mr Gilheaney.
NMR's Pocket Cow Manager costs £9.00 per month, which covers support and all upgrades, plus the one-off cost of the hardware - a personal digital assistant available for approximately £180 from high street electronic stores.
