The Directors of The Arable Group (TAG) regret to announce that Dr Mike Carver, their Managing Director, is to leave the Company.
Dr Carver developed ARC (Arable Research Centres) from the original Cotswold Cereal Centre where he became Director in 1984. Two years ago, when ARC merged with the Morley Research Centre to form TAG, he was appointed Managing Director.
Including its fast growing Consultancy business, TAG now employs almost 100 people nationally, and is the largest independent agronomy research body in the country, delivering practical information and advice to farmer members.
Board members paid tribute to Dr Carver's leadership and foresight over the 21 years he has been in this sector of the industry. Having recently completed a strategic review of the industry, and put in place a programme for further development of the Company Dr Carver said: "While there is no 'good' time to leave any organisation, the present time seems appropriate'. He will not be retiring to his garden! Amongst other activities in the agricultural sector he will be developing his interests in the biofuels market. Before he leaves he will be helping complete a number of ongoing projects for the Company.
Dr Carver's departure offers an opportunity for the Company to review its own internal structures following a period of rapid expansion. Mr Colin McEwan, currently an Executive Director of the Company, will take the role of Managing Director during this process.
