NMR Introduces Entry Level Dairy Software

NMR has introduced a simplified dairy management software package, HerdPro, for those producers wishing to take advantage of computerised herd recording and management.

Developed by NMR, herdPRO uses milk records data and details entered on farm to produce a range of management reports that producers can select as they need them. Production, cell count and fertility data for each cow and groups of cows, plus herd averages are just some of the reports that are available off herdPRO.

NMR is providing the herdPRO software free of charge, but producers must subscribe to a £10 a month support fee. “For this, we will supply a self-starting CD to install the software and an instruction guide, including the simple route to retrieving milk records data off the NMR web site. The fee will also cover on line and telephone support,” says NMR's software development manager Justin Frankfort.

“However, I am confident that even those with no computer experience will soon get to grips with it, and if producers provide their milk recorder with a file with all the herd event information each month, we will offer a £7.50 discount, reducing their support fee to £2.50 a month.”

Included in the herdPRO program is a milk prediction facility where producers can see predicted production set against their quota. “We felt it was important to provide this facility as most major milk buyers are now requesting it from their suppliers and this method of supplying it is the simplest but most accurate available,” adds Mr. Frankfort.

“I have no doubt that once producers start using herdPRO they will quickly see the benefits and want to move on to a program with more options. We are offering free upgrades from herdPro to impelPro.”
