Concerned about the security of your land tenure? Are you bothered by people 'nibbling away' at small parcels of land? Never had a guaranteed title - or even a proper map of your land?
These issues can all be resolved at the CLA Pavilion during the United Counties Show on August 10 and the following week at the Pembrokeshire Show. The Land Registry will be 'at home' at both shows and its mission is to advise property owners of the advantages of voluntarily registering their land.
Register development manager Gerald Dyer will be on hand to give a fascinating insight into the workings of the Land Registry. He will also explain how it can help landowners to safeguard their property and to make future transactions so much simpler.
“It's our corporate objective to get people to register voluntarily by 2012”, said Mr Dyer who is based in Llansamlet. “We will be talking to showgoers about the advantages of registering voluntarily and about the discounts of up to 25% we can offer.
“The advantage of registration is that you get state registered title, security of ownership, and protection against adverse ownership claims. We can also simplify all the big deeds and documents files and transfer them to a set of title documents”.
Mr Dyer added that discounts meant that even the largest landowners would not have to pay more than £525 to register. It was a very cost effective exercise, given what could be at stake.
CLA South Wales Regional Director, Jonathan Andrews said he was delighted to welcome the Land Registry to the CLA Pavilion. There was often a lack of clarity in land dealings and this could prove to be very expensive, especially when land changed hands.
