A ram lamb from noted Kelso breeder Bruce Renwick of the Castlecairn flock secured that leading price of 36,000gns at the Solway and Tyne Texel Breeders show and sale. Castlecairn LA Lover, a group one March born lamb sired by Watchknowe Jimmys Pride and out of a Craighead Hercules bred daughter, attracted tremendous interest with bidding setting of a cracking rate and finally reaching 36,000gns with the last bid coming jointly from John Forsyth of the Glenside flock based in Ayrshire and WH Sinnett & Sons of Stockton Court, Worcester.
The next leading prices both came from the Glenside flock of John Forsyth with ram lambs. Firstly came Glenside Legacy, a February born lamb by Castlecairn Keltic Star and bred from a Claybury Invader sired mother, he was sold for 26,000gns to Boden & Davies of the Sportsmans flock based in Cheshire.
The second lamb from John Forsyth sold for 20,000gns. Glenside Ludo, another February born lamb also by Keltic Star and bred from a Castlecairn Havana bred mother, he was knocked down to a trio of buyers, namely Peter Woof of the Stainton flock at Kendal, RS & J Bradley of the Far Hey flock at Colne and S Spyrou of the Gib Farm flock at Hebden Bridge.
