Barlaes Bonus - 2,600gns

On Friday 4th November 2005, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted
the autumn sale of Whitebred Shorthorn Cattle on behalf of members
of the Whitebred Shorthorn Association with a catalogued entry of
10 Bulls and 2 Females.
It was said by many to be one of the best shows of
Whitebred Shorthorn bulls seen for some years.
Top price of the day 2,600gns was secured by Barlaes Bonus a May
2004 bull, bred and exhibited by R & M Fergusson, Barlaes, Dalry,
Castle Douglas. Sired by Raeburnfoot Talisman and going back to Murtholm
and The Flatt breeding on the dam side, Bonus was snapped up by D
Jackson & Sons, Blackburn, Newcastleton.
The judge, Brian Crawshaw awarded the Championship to Parton Striker
a December 2003 bull bred and exhibited by Messrs Hewson, Parton
Farm, Wigton. Sired by Murtholm Premier, this bull went on to secure
a bid of 1,400 gns and was purchased by Messrs TD & M Moore,
Softley, Slaggyford, Brampton.
The Reserve Championship was awarded to Blackburn Gaffer, a March
2004 bull bred and exhibited by D Jackson & Sons, Blackburn,
Newcastleton, sired by Blackburn Taurus this bull went on to realise
2,000 gns. and travels to Wales to Cnewr Estate Ltd., Sennybridge,
Brecon.
Third prize bull Hotbank Mariner a June 2003 bull, also exhibited
by Messrs Hewson but bred by JRF Pattinson, Hotbank, Bardon Mill,
Hexham left the ring unsold, but was later purchased by Mr J Denby,
High Low Scales Farm, Millom.
