Cumbria FWAG are hosting an event looking at managing set aside
for environmental benefit at Aikbank Farm, Calthwaite, Penrith on
Thursday 17th November 2005.
Presentations will be given by Ian Wrigley of Cumbria FWAG, John
Bowman of the Rural Development Service and James Turner of Brackenburgh
Estate covering:
- Set aside management options and how to optimise benefits for
wildlife and the farm business.
- How options for the Entry Level
Scheme and Higher Level Scheme can be used on set aside land.
- Practical
management of set aside.
The event is an ideal introduction for farmers having to use set
aside for the first time or who are keen to make the best use of
their set aside obligation.
There will also be a farm walk around Aikbank Farm looking at the
various set aside management options.
The day will start at 11am and finish at 2.45pm, lunch and refreshments
are provided.
This event is funded by the Rural Development Service and there
is no charge, however it is essential to book a place in advance.
