Five Suffolk breeders offered consignments
of in lamb ewes and gimmers on Saturday at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
The entries included were from the Burndale flock of Derek Henderson,
from the Ewebank flock of Judith Barbour, from the Kings flock
of Robin Irwin, from the Solwaybank flock of Iain Barbour and from
the Wells flock of Harry Sleigh.
Judith Barbour of the Ewebank flock led the Sale with her one
crop ewe. This group one Glenisla Grimaldi bred ewe sold in lamb
to Stockton Savannah, attracted a lot of interest right from the
start of the bidding as it was left with two telephone bids to
battle it out. Finally at 5,200gns the hammer went down and she
sold to G Killilea of Co.Galway, Eire. Her mother, a maternal sister
to Ewebank Elite, is a Muiresk Dancing Brave bred daughter.
A gimmer from the Solwaybank flock of Iain Barbour sold for 3,000gns.
This group one gimmer, sired by Strathisla Scallywag and out of
a Glenisle Grimaldi daughter, sold in lamb to Stockton Savannah.
She was also knocked down to Gerry Killilea of Eire.
