Dairy management company NMR has developed its pocket PC system
to link directly with the UK’s leading dairy management program
impelPRO. Using Pocket Cow Manager (PCM) that runs on a pocket
PC, producers can access cow details ‘on site’ while
working with their cows, as well as adding event details and important
            management information.

                | | Through a direct link between PCM and the latest version of impelPRO,
which will be supplied free of charge to all full impelPRO users,
producers can keep both systems right up to date. ImpelPRO automatically
receives the latest recording data for the herd. “This link will give more than 1,500 producers, as well
as vets and advisers, the opportunity to use Pocket Cow Manger
to recall and input herd information while they are working among
the cows, as well as the ability to transfer it automatically to
and from the office-based system,” says NMR’s software
development manager Justin Frankfort. “The latest milk recording
results can be accessed through impelPRO and added automatically
to Pocket Cow Manager. “This seamless transfer of data is proving very popular
because it improves accuracy, cuts duplication and, above all,
saves time.” ImpelPRO is the most widely used dairy software and all users
will be receiving the latest version –1.7 – this month
(June). NMR has also introduced a multi-herd version of PCM where more
than one herd can be run on the same system. “The multi-herd
version is aimed at vets and advisers who run the InterHerd management
software for their clients’ herds and want to input data
on farm then transfer it into their system when they return to
the office,” adds Mr Frankfort. “It is also valuable
for producers running two herds.” The software for both multi-herd PCM and single-herd PCM are free.
Both come with support packages that include free software updates
costing £15 per month for the multi-herd version and £9.25
per month for the single-herd version. Dairy Farmers' Summer Open Days
