A new computerised calf feeding system designed to help farmers
improve animal performance, and make labour savings together with
subsequent costs, has been launched by Volac International.
Called the Volac Urban U30, the system can rear up to 50 calves
at any one time using whole milk or milk replacer, while the feeding
of each individually identified calf can be completely controlled
by pre determined feeding curves.   “While more than 60% of dairy heifer replacements are reared
on computerised calf feeding systems in Germany, an increasing
number are realising the benefits in the UK, particularly when
it comes to saving time and exploiting each individual calf’s
full potential in a welfare friendly environments,” says
Volac International’s Howard Gilbert. “The Volac Urban
U30 is the latest addition to our portfolio of computerised calf
feeders and is designed as a cost effective option for those farmers
looking for a simplified and basic set up.” The Volac Urban U30 will be launched at the Royal Welsh Show.
