 The first Autumn Show & Sale of Shetland Ponies at Borderway,
              Carlisle was an undoubted success on Wednesday 11th October. Both
              buyers and consignors equally viewed their excitement over this
              new equine marketing opportunity initiated by Harrison & Hetherington
            at Borderway, Carlisle.

                |  |  The show was professionally judged by the Shetland Pony Society
              President Mrs A Stevens. The overall Champion tapped forward was
              Huntsmuir Kentucky consigned by DAJ Hodge, Okehampton, Devon. This
              38 inch skewbald licensed stallion was sired by Seva William and
              sold for 400gns to Mrs C Hodgson, Lotuspoint Shetlands, Wigton,
              Cumbria. The Reserve Champion was a showy mare Newton Catriona,
              consigned by JN & PM Blackburn, Penrith, Cumbria. Sired by
            Scapa Jack and out of Catriona Of Urgarth. The top price of the sale went to the Newton stud of JN & PM
              Blackburn, Newton Reigney, Penrith. Knock Mimosa, a 32 inch mare,
              bred from two of the best Shetland Pony bloodlines of Marshwood & Kerswell.
              Claiming the 2nd prize in the 4-Year-Old class, she realised 1350gns
              for buyer RG Mark, Sunnygill Farm, Ousby, Penrith. Going to the
              same stable is Tenston Vega also consigned by Norman Blackburn,
              Penrith. This chestnut 31.50 inches mare was running with Earlsdon
              Royal Viking. Licensed stallion Kerswell Titan consigned by JAT Hodge, Okehampton,
              Devon sold for 1300gns. This striking 10-year-old stallion by New
              Park Chieftain travels south to Sylvia Ashton, New House Farm,
              Melling, Liverpool.  At 1,050gns Laddyll Ling, a tiny prize-winning filly, was consigned
              by Miss E Headley, Brough, Kirkby Stephen. Running with Tiny Firecrest
              Haybrake, she sold to M Howarth, Deanrow Shetland Pony Stud, Macclesfield.
              Also entering the Deanrow Shetland Stud was Roadside Caelan. Consigned
              by the Grieveson family from Wallsend, Newcastle Upon Tyne,and
              bred by Mr PW Walterson, this 30 inch grey & white skewbald
              filly sold for 1000gns.
