| 08/11/06 Strong demand for Limousin youngstock underpinned a buoyant trade
            at the Annual Limousin Weaned Calf Sale held at Harrison & Hetherington’s
            Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 3rd November 2006. Bull calves
            sold to an average of £1026, up over £300 on the year;
            heifer calves did similarly well selling at £1013 per head
            up almost £200 on last year for 10 more sold. 
           
                
                Langanby Boxer - 6,200 guineas 
 
 
                  |  |  Punching his way to the top at 6,200gns was the rising six month
            old bull calf Langanby Boxer brought forward by JB Holliday & Sons,
            Town Head Farm, Langwathby, Penrith, Cumbria. Sired by Dentox Uppercut
            and out of Cloughhead Ribbon, new owners are AJ & FM Harrison,
            Grange Hall, Great Asby, Appleby, Cumbria.  Another bull calf, Glenrock Bingo, consigned by Stephen Illingworth,
              Howgillside, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie, Dumfries made 3,000gns. Robb & MacDonald,
              Flemington Farm, Cumbuslang, Glasgow purchased this January 2006
              born son of Totem and out of Glenrock Pixie. January 2006 born,
              this bull calf had a Beef Value of LM+22 alongside a Calving Value
              of LM+2C putting him easily in the top 25% of breed. Third best in the male calves section was the 1,900gns
              Lowbarn Bamelar brought out by Mr RFS Newall, Low Barns, Wall,
              Hexham, Northumberland. Just eight months old, he is sired by Cloughhead
              Organic and out of Sarkley Pamela and was snapped up for 1,900gns
              by RR Hughes, Fron Isa, Gaerwen, Anglesey. Two heifer calves from Messrs AH & GW Roberts, Hafod Las,
              Ysbyty Ifan, Betws-Y-Coed, Conwy went under the hammer for 3,800gns.
              Both sired by the French bull Saphir, the first of these was Hafodlas
              Bambi who is out of the dam Penrhos Uptowngirl when knocked down
              to an undisclosed buyer. Born in January 2006 her Beef Value was
              LM+20. Purchasers of the second Saphir daughter, Hafodlas Beti,
              who is out of the dam Hafodlas Sara were MA & SJ Harryman,
              Keskadale, Newlands Valley, Keswick also for 3,800gns.  The Hafodlas prefix continued its successful outing with bids
              of 2,800gns and 1,650gns for two further heifer calves, again Saphir
              daughters. Messrs Pears, Fellside House Farm, Caldbeck, Wigton,
              Cumbria were final bidders at 2,800gns for the rising nine month
              old female, Hafodlas Beca, whose dam is Hafodlas Sonia. Hafodlas
              Brengain, once again February 2006 born, by the sire Saphir and
              out of homebred dam Hafodlas Brengain, heads to G & E Jones,
              Garth Pigau, Nant Y Rhiw, Llanrwst, Gwynedd for 1,650gns.  AveragesWeaned Calves
