    English Beef Makes Top Burgers

MAKERS of the country’s finest beef burgers have been handed an accolade by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX).

The top burger burghers in three categories – manufacturers, caterers and schools – were awarded trophies, certificates and the chance to take part in a sporting experience of their choice valued at £500.

All entrants used Quality Standard English beef mince to make their patties.

Winners were: manufacturer – Frank Parker Butchers of Nuneaton for his Low Fat Burgers; caterer – Tony Robson-Burrell of The Wheatsheaf in Oaksey, Wiltshire for his Rump Steak Burger; school meals – Brian Fawcett of Gilmour Foods, suppliers to North Yorkshire County Council, with his Yorkshire Dales Beefburger.

Hugh Judd, EBLEX Foodservice Manager, said: “We were impressed by the quality of the winning burgers and with the fact that all three winners were passionate about sourcing their meat from trusted suppliers.”
