| 19/11/07 Looking at the possibility of using alternative feeds
is vital for beef and sheep producers, especially during
this period of rising feed costs.
This is one of the subjects that will be covered at the
English Beef and Lamb Executives (EBLEX) open meeting being
held for beef and sheep levy payers at Skipton Livestock
Market from 6 pm to 9.15pm on Monday, November 26. The meeting will also give producers an opportunity to
see a virtual beef and lamb selection demonstration. This
is a new interactive computer based programme that has
been developed by EBLEX as part of their Better Returns
Programmes to enable farmers to see at the touch of a button
the appearance of different fat levels and conformation
classes on an animal. A marketing and butchery session will focus on some of
the promotional activity that has been rolled out in the
wake of the current difficulties, and give a demonstration
of seam butchery techniques, which form part of ongoing
EBLEX development activity on premium beef and lamb cuts. Refreshments will be available. Places are free but need
to be reserved to assist with catering. To book your place
or for further information, contact Diane Northrop at EBLEX
