The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 95 prime cattle, 0 young bulls, 22 OTM, 4,945 prime hoggs and 3,536 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 31st January, 2008.

The overall quality in the clean cattle section was not as good as last week. Limousin bullocks from W. & W. A plainer show of 22 OTM cattle again met a dear trade to a top of 78.5p for a Simmental cow from Brownchesters; Galloway 76.5p Lymiecleugh; Holstein 75.5p Jerriestown; Limousin 74.5p Chapelhills.

The 4,945 hoggs forward met a very strong trade to a full ring of buyers to average 116.2p per kilo overall.

The sale was topped at £66.80 per head for Texels from Colter Coats and to 138.8p per kilo for Beltex from J. Runciman & Son, Allanshaws.
