2009 looks set to be another year of growth and industry-wide use for www.linesearch.org – the premier, free to use, online enquiry system; mapping some 24,000Kms of under and over-ground pipelines, cables and fibre optic ducts – with the site now netting over 50,000 hits per month.
Linesearch.org provides a single point of contact for all enquiries relating to the apparatus owned and/or operated by its many members (currently 23 utilities, and rising) – making it the perfect user-friendly, time and cost-efficient enquiry tool for businesses carrying out works on highways or private land.
Since its inception in 2003, the site has grown dramatically and is now an integral part of most third parties planned and unplanned works process.
The internet-based service reduces search costs (offering a minimum cost saving of £6.20/per enquiry for postage, notwithstanding the processing time implications) and also the wait time for responses to enquiries – enabling enquirers to direct only relevant enquiry details to the member concerned, should any enquiry fall within a 'Zone of Interest.'
As businesses review their environmental and sustainability policies, Linesearch.org is rapidly being adopted and integrated within working procedures, reducing postage, printing and paper usage.
And, with Linesearch.org involved in recent negotiations with more interested parties wishing to become members, the continued increase in the number of enquiries and the proposed development of new services offered by Linesearch.org, it looks like a busy year ahead for the innovative website enquiry system.
