McCormick Dealer HJR Agri Wins Top Award

A new farm machinery dealership in Shropshire - one of the latest recruits to the McCormick tractor dealer network - has won a prestigious award in recognition of its business performance.

HJR Agri (Oswestry), based in Oswestry, Shropshire, was named Emerging Dealer of the Year, a new category for the national awards organised by Service Dealer magazine.

“From a standing start in 2008, HJR Agri made an immediate impact in the area and surpassed all expectations in its first few months of trading,” said Service Dealer editor, Chris Biddle, at the industry awards presentation dinner.

Sponsored by independent insurance broker Lucas Fettes & Partners and AXA Insurance Group, the awards highlight the achievements of sales and service dealers in the farm machinery, garden machinery, professional turfcare and ATV/quad markets.

The Emerging Dealer of the Year award recognises the outstanding achievement of a new dealership established since January 2008. HJR Agri was formed in March 2008 by Terry and Alan Hughes, Melfyn Jones and Andy Roberts.

Thanks to their first-rate track record in farm machinery sales and service, the new business quickly acquired customers and leading distribution franchises for Lely, Marshall, Strautmann and Reco farm equipment, and for McCormick tractors, covering a territory that extends from Wrexham westwards to beyond Corwen, then south to Machynlleth and Newtown, Powys, extending eastwards beyond the A5/A483 as far as Ellesmere.

“We nominated HJR Agri for this award because the guys deserved recognition for the way they went about setting up and running their new business,” says Ray Spinks, general manager at McCormick distributor AgriArgo UK. “They have an excellent relationship with local customers and very strong product knowledge – attributes that no doubt contributed to the excellent sales performance they achieved supplying McCormick tractors.”

After receiving the award from Kevin Donoghue of AXA Insurance, Terry Hughes said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. It has been a hectic and rewarding first year in business and now our aim is to go from strength to strength in serving our customers.”

HJR Agri Oswestry represents AgriArgo UK’s McCormick franchise in north central Wales and across most of Shropshire.
