The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 39 prime cattle, 9 over thirty month cattle, 3,781 prime hoggs and 3,743 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 7th January, 2010.

Even allowing for the adverse weather conditions across the country, Longtown Mart endeavoured to procure as much stock as possible for their full ring of buyers present.

A smaller show of cattle was forward due to adverse weather conditions. Limousin heifers from Hallburn sold to 191.5p, 185.5p and 181.5p; Charolais 177.5p Hallburn; Saler 176.5p Upper Mains. The 3,781 prime hoggs forward were short of requirements and met a flying trade. The 1,078 under 36 kilos averaged 195.7p and the 2,704 over 36 kilos averaged 210.4p. The overall average was 207p per kilo.
