The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 63 prime cattle, 38 over thirty month cattle, 4,944 prime hoggs and 4,096 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 11th February, 2010.

A larger show of 63 prime cattle saw a top price of 185.5p for Charolais heifers from Toppin Castle; Limousin 184.5p, 183.5p, 182.5p Hallburn, 180.5p Houghton House. Heavyweight Limousin bullocks to 169.5p The Gill.

The 38 over thirty month cattle saw trade much the same on the week. Top price of 133.5p for a Hereford heifer from Enzieholm. Simmental bullocks to 130.5p Crossibeg. Friesian cows to 132.5p Hillhouse, 117.5p Hawkshole, 89.5p The Throp; Limousin 101.5p Killeonan, 97.5p Langholm; British Blue 97.5p Blacksmiths Cottage; Simmental 94.5p Sceughdyke; Shorthorn 88.5p Minsca; Galloway 71.5p Acreknowe.

A larger show of 4,946 prime hoggs sold to the usual full ring of buyers, with an overall average of 191.1p per kilo. Good quality export hoggs met a good trade and easily selling to the 200p per kilo mark.
