John Deere has introduced the new Raven SmartBoom, which offers a GPS automatic boom section control option to customers buying or owning basic specification sprayers.

This is designed as a lower cost alternative for those who don’t require all the features of a higher specification i-Series machine, but who would still like to benefit from easier, more accurate spraying and reduced input costs.
SmartBoom is a standalone system that connects between John Deere’s EL4 spray controller and a mounted or trailed sprayer. Once turned on, SmartBoom uses GPS data from a StarFire satellite receiver to turn the sprayer on or off at previously sprayed areas or mapped no-spray zones.
In addition to being compatible with new John Deere trailed sprayers, the system can be used with older 500 Contractor mounted sprayers, 700 Series Farmer, 800 and 800SE trailed machines, as well as competitive sprayers fitted with the TeeJet 844E controller. SmartBoom works with GPS signals of all accuracies, from +/-2 to 30cm.
Basic price of the Raven SmartBoom option is £1576 (€1891), excluding VAT.
