Skipton Auction Mart’s annual show and sale of ‘early’ ewes with lambs at foot saw local vendor James Drake, of Carleton, exhibit the first prize pen of five Mule ewes, all with twins, sold at £165 per outfit to David Pawson, of Billinge, Blackburn. (Mon, March 28)

Stuart Beeforth, of Stillington, York, sent out the first and second prize pairs of ewes, both with three lambs between them and both selling at £155 per combination – the first prize Texels to Roger Naylor, Middleton, Ilkley, and the Beltex runners-up to IB & S Boothman, Silsden.
Heading the prices at £175 per outfit were three Mule shearlings with twin lambs from R & DA Earnshaw, Killinghall, which joined P Fortune, Tosside.
The overall average selling price was £145.77. Show judge was Sandy Harrison, Cowling.
