The Belgian Blue represents 45 % of the national stock in it's native land of Belgium, some 1,500,000 head of cattle.

Belgian Blues, as we know them today were imported into the UK in the early 1980's.
The British Herd Book comprises of 6395 females and 9380 males, a total of 15775 registered animals. There are nearly 400 members of the Society.

With the impending lifting of the beef export ban, cattle societies in the UK are looking for ways to regain the lucrative export markets of yesteryear. Like many other UK beef organisations, the Belgian Blue Cattle Society have recognised that the web will help them to communicate more easily with overseas markets.
