New Holland continues to expand its tractor offering with the introduction of new four-cylinder models for each of its utility tractor ranges, the TND-A and TNS-A. The 4.5 litre four-cylinder engines in these new models offer the customer more power, higher torque, greater performance and lower service costs, with an industry-leading 600hr engine service interval, while still meeting the latest Tier 2 emissions levels.
Complementing the existing three-cylinder engine models, the new line-up for each range presents customers with a greater choice of tractors over a wider power band. New Holland has the widest range of three- and four-cylinder models in Europe allowing customers to choose a model that meets their exact requirements.
The new 82hp TN85D-A, TN85S-A and 90hp TN95D-A distinguish themselves from their three-cylinder counterparts thanks to a longer bonnet to accommodate the larger engine and cooling system, a 12cm longer wheelbase for both two- and four-wheel-drive variants and an A-pillar exhaust. Mounted on the right hand side of the bonnet, close to the cab, the repositioned “A” Pillar exhaust allows an unimpeded view forwards. The fuel tank size has been increased to 90 litres for the four-cylinder models, for a longer working day and the new lockable filler cap is relocated to the front left hand side of the cab.
"The TN-A Series of tractors is ideal for a wide variety of applications where lightweight and compact dimensions are paramount. Our customers enjoy the reliability and easy operation of these machines but have wanted more power without moving to a larger machine," explains New Holland product marketing specialist Alan Hawes.
"The new TN-A model range extends from 59hp to 90hp and now overlaps with the Series TDD, 80hp to 94hp, and the Series TL-A, 72hp to 100hp. Although comparable in power, each range has been focused on the need of the customers. For example, the TN95D-A is 214mm narrower, 200mm lower and 1200kg lighter than the TL90-A, making it perfect for some specialist applications, such as orchard, dairy and livestock farming," continues Alan.
The wide range of models is equally matched by the choice of options and features available. A two-wheel drive version of the 85 model will be available for economy minded customers. On four-wheel drive models, drive is selected electro-hydraulically to provide optimum fuel-efficiency and maximum traction during a variety of operations. Mechanical Draft Control, lower-link draft sensing and Lift-O-Matic™, which enables an implement to be raised and lowered to its previous setting using a single switch, proves this is a simple, but far from basic tractor.
The new TND-A and TNS-A tractors build upon the strengths of the current 59hp and 76hp models by offering a wider choice of transmissions and more comprehensive feature list. Standard on both ranges is New Holland's Shuttle Command™ transmission that offers matched forward and reverse speeds with a dedicated, left hand operated synchromesh shuttle providing 28x16 on the 85 and 20x12 on the 95 model. Dual Command™ 2 speed shift with Power Shuttle transmission is also available, while the 44x16 (32x12 on TN95-A model) Dual Command™ transmission with creeper option offers the maximum flexibility and speeds from 0.15 to 40kph.
Standard fitment comprises high flow rate MegaFlow™ hydraulics, servo assist 540/540E-speed rear pto, two deluxe remote valves, quick attach rear lift linkage, and front end weight pack. Optional front lift and front pto (not available on TN85S-A) can be specified, enabling the TND-A and TNS-A to operate a wide range of implements.
The “Blue” Cab, available on both TND-A and TNS-A, achieves the highest standards of operator comfort. Featuring improved cab sealing and fitted with thermo control air conditioning and a re-circulation air filter as standard, it assures a clean, safe and quiet working environment. Two large external air filters and two internal pollen filters are fitted, while carbon filters can also be specified for chemical spray protection where required. A deluxe air suspension seat completes the full comfort package.
TNS-A comes equipped with New Holland's Award winning SuperSteer™ and Auto four-wheel drive management front axle. For more than eight years, an unbeatable 760 turn angle and a turn radius of just 3.2m has provided the TNS-A with unrivalled manoeuvrability. The standard automatic four-wheel drive traction management system disengages power to the front axle during tight turns or low draft applications and on slopes of less than ten degrees re-engaging as conditions dictate. A manual override allows full-time two-wheel or four-wheel drive. This innovative system increases work rates by up to 20%, improves stability and control in turns and well as reducing fuel consumption, tyre wear and ground surface damage - particularly useful in grass or seed bed preparation. TNS-A, as with the rest of the range, is now available with radial agricultural tyres to reduce compaction and wheel marks in wet conditions.
