BEEF from England's North West could be in the forefront of
a new export drive.
Regional producers are being invited to a series of special free
evening events organised by the English Beef and lamb Executive
(EBLEX) in conjunction with the NFU and Rural Development Service,
to hear the secrets of successful exporting.
The three events all start at 7.30pm. They will be at Orchards
Farm, Goostrey on Monday March 27, The Tickled Trout, Preston on
Wednesday March 29 and at the Shepherds Inn, Carlisle on Thursday
March 30.
Presentations will look at the various overseas markets, give
a run-down of what processors will be looking for and the specifications
farmers need to meet in finishing cattle for those outlets.
Clive Brown, EBLEX Western Regional Manager, said: "Overseas
buyers want our beef - but they are looking for specific carcase
types and in some cases particular breeds. It is important that
producers understand the requirements of each market in order to
get the most benefit from the opportunities which arise."
Events numbers are limited so attendees should book places through
EBLEX - for booking and further information contact Clive Brown
at cliveb@eblex.org.uk or telephone
0870 241 8528.
