The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward
118 prime cattle, 11 young beef bulls, 6,178 hoggs and 4,771
cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday
15th February, 2007.
More prime cattle were on offer with averages the same as last
week. Top price of 144.5p was paid by Messrs Nattrass, Butcher,
Carlisle for a Belgian Blue heifer from Messrs Blaylock, Hallburn,
others to 132.5p Castle Mains, 128.5p Corby Castle. Limousin
138.5p Beauchamp to W Kirkup, Butchers, others 136.5p Hallburn,
135.5p Castle Mains, 134.5p Corby Castle, 132.5p Castle Mains,
131.5p Corby Castle & Hallburn. Charolais 131.5p Slealands
to West Scottish Lamb, Salers 124.5p Dashwellgreen to Woodhead

The bullock section topped at 137.5p, 134.5p for Limousin from
Hallburn and purchased by Woodhead Bros. and Messrs Nattrass,
others 127.5p Hallburn, 126.5p, 125.5p The Gill, 125.5p Houghton
House. Belgian Blues 125.5p The Gill, 124.5p, 123.5p Fenton Farm,
Charolais 127.5p Hallburn, 124.5p Lawston.
Young bulls were in short supply and dearer on the week selling
to 117.5p and 116.5p for Limousin from Southlambhill.
Prime hoggs were a larger show and with the usual buyers present
all classes were again sharper on the week to average 115p overall
to a top of 156.9p for Beltex from R McQuistan, High Airyolland,
others 153p Craig View.
Top price per head was £67.50 for Texels from A C Clark,
