Entries for this year’s National Spring Spectacular Show of commercial cattle at Beef Expo 2011 at Newark on Thursday 26 May, are full to capacity with cattle set to head to Newark from all corners of the country.
Leading cattle exhibitors heading to Beef Expo 2011, an event organised by the National Beef Association with Lloyds TSB as the major sponsor, will compete for a strong prize fund which totals more than £5000, with the championships sponsored by Caltech, manufacturers of Chrystalyx feed products.
And, included in these entries are a number of the high priced cattle bought at show-potential sales across, England, Wales and Scotland this spring.
Top quality cattle heading for the show will include cattle purchased this spring for up to £6000 from sales including those at Penrith, Carlisle, Leyburn, Brecon and Ruthin Marts and many other centres across the UK.
Beef Expo 2011 chief cattle steward Paul Gentry of Newark Livestock Market said he had been inundated with entries for the show. “The response has been fantastic with both local and further afield exhibitors set to bring some of the best cattle in the country to the show.
“To have so many of the top names in the prime cattle world entering with such a fantastic array of cattle speaks volumes about the prestige offered by the show. We’re full to capacity with more than 140 head entered and look forward to an outstanding show of cattle which will prove a real test for the judge Keith Harryman.”
Entries are though still open for both the unhaltered section of the National Spring Spectacular Show which will be held at Newark Livestock Market on Wednesday 25th May and the live/dead competition which is being organised in conjunction with the Royal Smithfield Club.
Anyone wanting to enter either of these competitions should contact Newark Livestock Market Tel: 01636 676 741: Fax: 01636 611 190 or email
