The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward
91 Prime cattle, 2 Young bulls, 31 OTM, 10 Spring lambs, 5516
hoggs and 2709 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown
on Thursday 26th April 2007.
In the prime cattle section bullocks were cheaper on the week
by 3p. Under 24 month heifers met the same trade and the rest
were cheaper by 3p. Top price of 137.5p for a Limousin bullocks
from Messrs Blaylock, Hallburn purchased by Messrs Nattrass,
Butcher, Carlisle, other Limousin to 133.5p Dashwellgreen, 132.5p
The Gill, 131.5p, 129.5p, 128.5p Dashwellgreen.
Heifers sold to 135.5p for a Belgian Blue from T Armstrong & Sons,
Sceughdyke, others 133.5p Dashwellgreen, Limousins 133.5p Hallburn,
130.5p Dashwellgreen, 129.5p, 128.5p Hallburn, Charolais 131.5p

Young bulls were short of requirements selling to 113.5p for
Limousin from Morley Hill.
OTM cattle sold to 87.5p for Limousin heifer from Edenbanks,
Friesian cows 82.5p Horsegills, Charolais cows 84.5p Mosside,
Limousin cows 69.5p Nunscleugh, Angus cows 70.5p Kilnhill. Top
price per head was £639.78 for Charolais cow from Sceughdyke,
Friesians to £540.38 Horsegills.
The overall average for all hoggs was maintained at 99p, although
heavy hoggs proved hard to sell, with export types slightly increased
on the week.Top was 135.3p for Beltex hoggs from J Beck, Port
O Spittal. Top price per head £56 for Suffolks from Fordmill.
