Pig farmers are being offered the chance to have a say
in how their levy money is spent over the next few years.
Major changes are taking place as the Meat and
Livestock Commission is being disbanded and BPEX will become
a company limited by guarantee under the new Levy Board
UK.
All the work of BPEX is funded by the levy paid on every
pig which goes through into the food chain.
BPEX Chief Executive Mick Sloyan said: "This gives
us all an excellent opportunity to review and revise the
Road to Recovery - the strategy aimed at creating a sustainable
and profitable pig industry.
"BPEX is holding a series of meetings around the
country to get the views of pig farmers to ensure the strategy
meets the needs of the industry."
Monday, June 18, at Driffield Rugby Club; Tuesday June
19, at The George Hotel, Lincoln; Wednesday, June 20, at
The Grange Hotel, Bury St Edmunds; Tuesday, June 26, at
Harper Adams; Wednesday, June 27, at Exeter Market.
All are timed to run from 6pm to 8pm and a buffet will
be provided. Anybody interested in attending should get
in touch with their BPEX Regional Manager whose details
can be found on the website, www.bpex.org.uk.
