The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward
71 prime cattle, 0 young bulls, 30 Over Thirty Month cattle,
4,990 prime lambs and 4,127 cast ewes & rams at their weekly
sale at Longtown on Thursday 22nd November,
2007.
A larger show of heavy cattle saw trade similar selling to a
top of 134.5p for Limousin heifers from J. & N. Blaylock & Son,
Hallburn to W. Kirkup Butchers, Longtown and Malone Ltd., Edinburgh,
others to 125.5p Houghton House, 122.5p Sceughdyke; Charolais
128.5p, 125.5p, 124.5p (x3) Hallburn. Bullocks to a top of 131.5p
for Charolais and Belgian Blue from Hallburn, other Charolais
from the same to 127.5p and 121.5p; Limousin 128.5p Haining House,
127.5p Upper Tinwald, Haining House and Houghton House.
A larger show of OTM cattle saw trade dearer for a plainer show,
selling to 94.5p for a Limousin bullock from Stormont; Angus
74.5p Girnwood; Galloway 68.5p Skitby. Heifers to 88.5p for a
Belgian Blue from Stormont; Friesian 71.5p Harelawhole; Galloway
70.5p Skitby. Cows to 79.5p Milnholm; Friesian 62.5p Harelawhole,
59.5p, 51.5p Smalmstown; Limousin 56.5p The Flatt, 40.5p Gillalees;
Belgian Blue 53.5p The Flatt; Charolais 48.5p Gillalees.
The 4,990 prime lambs forward averaged 77.5p per kilo, selling
to a top of £41 per head three times for Texels from Messrs
Brodie, Pingle and Messrs Cavers, Sorbie and for Beltex from
Messrs McIlwraith, Mouldy Hills, who also received the top price

The 4,127 cast ewes and rams were a similar show with all classes
