| 23/01/08 Trouw Nutrition has launched a simple, heated, re-constituted
milk feeder unit to help shepherds maximise orphan and
third lamb early life growth rates highly cost-effectively.

The Milkivit Denkamilk Lamb Suckler feeder sits outside the rearing
pen and can rear up to 32 lambs a day.

                        | | The new Lamb Suckler allows the company’s Lamb Traditional
and Lacto Lamb milk replacers to be prepared and kept warm
                      to boost intake.
“Lambs will drink milk cold, but research shows they
will consume larger quantities and put more weight on if
it is warm,” points out Trouw Nutrition technical
                      manager John Twigge.

Designed to sit safely immediately outside the lamb rearing
pen, the 20-litre capacity unit is supplied with two teats,
teat holders and pipes and if replenished twice a day will
feed up to 32 lambs. A 13-amp safety circuit breaker is
also included and additional teats and pipes are available
                      on request.

The Lamb Suckler will cost in the region of £150
(including VAT) and can be bought from agricultural merchants
