The popular UK Market Survey and EU Market Survey produced weekly by EBLEX and BPEX Market Intelligence are being made available free to beef, sheep and pig levy payers for the first time.
To date, the two publications have been subscription only, but EBLEX and BPEX, which jointly produce the reports, believe they are an invaluable tool for stakeholders and so should be more widely available.
The UK Market Survey reports the latest trends in the domestic beef, lamb and pork markets, including up-to-date auction and deadweight prices together with estimated weekly slaughter throughputs. It also reports latest retail prices and consumer purchasing trends. Import and export data is analysed and reported on, together with UK regional slaughter throughputs on a monthly basis.
The European Market Survey takes a look at current trends across Europe, including weekly price information from all 27 member states for cattle, heavy and light lambs, and pigs. Data includes key wholesale prices and weekly slaughter trends from the main continental markets. This survey also provides an analysis of important wider global markets.
Nick Allen, Sector Director for EBLEX, said: "Both of the market survey reports are valuable tools for the industry to help those involved make informed decisions on their businesses. To this end, they should be widely available to those in the red meat supply chain and so we have taken the decision that levy-payers should not have to pay to receive them via email.
"It is part of our on-going drive to provide added value to the industry."
