YOU don't have to slay a dragon to be a modern day St George,
according to the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX).

But in a campaign which aims to get beef on dinner tables across
England in the week leading up to St George's Day - April 23 -
the hunt has been launched by Ian "beefy" Botham for
a modern "St George"
And the 2006 "saint" won't need a sword but a proven
willingness to help his or her community.
Ian is asking people to nominate their own "Saint George" figures
who have made contributions to English life. The winner will get
to spend a VIP weekend in London with all expenses paid.
Ian Botham said: "There are many truly great people out there
who do so much for their communities, yet never get the chance
to shine.
"The first modern day St George Award for local heroes is
a great initiative to acknowledge their efforts."
The campaign is being backed with a range of tasty recipes for
beef dishes and a nomination form for your "hero" - all
