Dairy Conference Investigates the Future of Milk Production
2011-05-25

The 2011 European Dairy Farmers (EDF) congress, which is due to take place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire from 30th June to 2nd July, will host a series of seminars and discussions investigating how the industry can adapt to future market challenges and the technologies that will enable farmers to improve herd management.

The EDF is a network of leading dairy farmers and serves as a forum for dairy farmers in all European countries. Last year’s congress was held in Northern Italy, but for 2011 the event is returning to Stoneleigh Park where the EDF was founded in 1990.

This year’s congress is being sponsored by Fullwood Limited and will investigate the future of milk production and the technologies that are likely to shape the way dairy cows are managed.

The three-day congress will include a series of lectures, workshops and panel discussions on a range of topics including costs of production, automation technology, progressive herd health management and key profit drivers.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to visit six different farms including two dairy units which have recently been installed with the latest rotary and rapid exit milking systems from Fullwood.

“Fullwood is proud to be associated with the EDF as one of the principal sponsors of this year’s congress,” stated David O’Hare, Fullwood Chief Executive. “We look forward to meeting delegates from across Europe to an event that is rapidly gaining an excellent reputation amongst some of the industry’s most forward thinking farmers and industry influencers.

“The congress provides the ideal opportunity for delegates not only to learn more about the future of the industry, but also to establish useful contacts with dairy entrepreneurs from all over Europe and to exchange updated information and latest techniques in dairy cow husbandry. The EDF has brought together a first-class team of speakers and dairy specialists who will present a range of useful and informative papers investigating the latest milking technologies and management aids.”
